Polymorphous Canons
05.10.2024: I presented my research into polymorphous canons (Der Canon polymorphus: Versuch einer Anleitung) at the GMTH Kongress in Cottbus.
I plan to release my findings in written form in the future.
A polymorphous canon is any canon melody which has multiple possible resolutions. The most famous polymorphous canon is that by G.H. Stölzel in 1725.
As one of my projects while studying music theory, I analysed this canon and developed a technique for composing canons with similar characteristics.
In the meantime, here a few of the resulting canons. For more information, feel free to contact me.
